here we go again

tuesday was talan's 2 month check up. he is weighing in at 12 pounds 3 ounces and is 23 inches long. he's in the 50th percentile of weight and length. the dr. walked in and said "we finally made it to his 2 month check up!" then she looked in his nose and said "he's still pretty snotty in there" then she moved to his ears and said "well, he has an ear infection." i discussed it with her and determined after having a crabby healthy baby and a happy sick baby, i'd take the happy sick one any day of the week. she said there is a possibility that the ear infection goes hand in hand with all of the other problems that he had last month. so she gave us some more medication to put him on and told us to come back in 2 weeks for an ear check-up and then he will get his 2 month shots at that point as well. maybe he just has a crush on this dr. and he can't stand to be away from her for more than 3 weeks. at least he's still always happy.

2 months

we go in for talan's 2 month check-up on tuesday, so we'll keep you posted with the official stats. we put him in the old scale the other nite and it appears as though he's about 12.5 pounds.
talan continues to be a happy and easygoing baby. i never used to know what those words even meant. after being fed, talan is his happiest. he'll lay on the floor and just smile and kick and coo before deciding it's time to fall asleep again. he's awake quite a bit more these days, but still sleeps quite a good deal. he's moving around more and his movements are becoming a bit quicker instead of the super slow turtle movements. he's trying to catch up with hayden already what with rolling over at 8 weeks and all. about the only complaint we have with him is his sleep during the day. he will usually sleep most of the afternoon. but only in his swing. he hates to be laid down anywhere. crib, floor, couch. and if he's asleep in your arms and you lay him down, he'll wake up almost immediately. at nite we still swaddle him to keep everything close to him so limbs don't start flailing and wake him up as they do during the day. it seems to work as he goes down around 10:30-11pm and usually doesn't get up until 5-7am. i'll deal with only being able to put him to sleep by swaddling or swing though. he's a champ.
happy 2 month birthday, talan!

my little overachiever

so talan decided to step it up a few notches this evening. i put him on his back under his play gym and after awhile decided to give him some "tummy time" to strengthen his neck muscles even more than they already are. he wasn't on his stomach too long when he started rolling onto his side. i've seen this before. babies roll onto their sides. but he seemed to keep going. i almost grabbed the video camera but decided not to thinking how insane it was to even think that an 8 week old would roll over. soon after i had that thought, he did it. he rolled over. i grabbed the video camera and put him back on his stomach. he did it again. this time i got it on video. we tried for a third time but he was too tired and frustrated. so i gave him a break. then i decided i would lay him on his stomach to simply snap a few shots to post on my blog. figuring there would be no more rolling over, but at least you could see a picture of how he started. as i started taking the pictures, he started rolling over. in fact, he rolled over this evening a total of 6 times. 3 of which were caught on video tape and about 2 on my camera. hayden rolled over for the first time at exactly 3 months. and i thought that was early. not to be outdone, talan decided to raise the bar and roll over a day shy of his 8 week birthday. every dr. that has ever seen hayden or talan has told us how incredibly strong they are. we have decided it must be from growing in my womb of rage. i know you don't believe me. here's the photo proof. and if you don't believe that, maybe one day i'll learn how to upload a video onto this thing. way to go talan!

this is annoying:
maybe i can just move my head to the side so i can actually breathe
maybe a little more:
while i'm at it, i think i'll just roll all the way over. mom certainly won't do it for me:

that's right. THAT JUST HAPPENED:
